"The interpreter scene prior to 1964 was so vastly different from that which exists today that it is a strain on the imagination to contemplate it ... We did not work as interpreters, but rather volunteered our services as our schedules permitted. If we received any compensation it was freely given and happily accepted, but not expected." - Lou Fant, RID biographer

EIPA student Testimonies...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Personal Testimonies~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Juti,
Where have you been all of this time when I desperately needed you! I finally passed the EIPA after taking your EIPA test preparation course. I have failed the EIPA 3 times and now, thanks to you, I can keep my job!
Love and hugs,
Maria M.
Juti,  I just want to say that I loved your class!  I am so glad I found it ... right before this course got started!  The EIPA prep course was different than anything I've tried to study on my own, or other classes.  I loved the relaxed atmosphere, very informative on so many respects of the EIPA test and terms.  I loved the tips on "how to" and the practice suggestions and charts.. I love the handouts!  I printed them all and made a huge book that I can refer back to!  I think most of all, I appreciated how  you taught us to be confident in ourselves for testing purposes and in life!  I can see real improvement and a difference in my thinking already!  Thank you Juti!
Hi Juti,
I fianlly passed the EIPA!!!  I just got my test results - 4.7 !!! I was just happy, I felt more confident this time around. I was happy with my work and could have stuck by it whether I got the 4.0 minimum or not. But a 4.7!?! I'm over the moon!
Even considering Boystown 's projected average of improving 0.1 per year between taking my last EIPA, I'd only be at a 4.0 threshold. So a 3.5- a 4.7 - WOW! Thank You!
The cramming to do all of my "selfies" and incorporate all of your workshop techniques and just force myself to voice, coive, coive before the test did wonders for my test results and for my everyday work. Thanks a million!!!!
Best regards,
Esther
Hi Juti,
This is Kacey McNew. I took your EIPA PEP in May and June then I took the EIPA test in August. I am now working really hard to write and letter of appreciation that you can add to your files. I just wanted to throw you a quick email, for now, since I JUST got my results. It was my first time ever taking the EIPA. I had taken a few workshops from you and then signed up for the EIPA PEP. Well, my first time around and I scored a 4.1!
The techniques you teach and your encouragement really helped me to recognize where I needed to improve and where my strengths are. I can't thank you enough. Again, I am working on getting you a formal letter expressing my thanks.
So for now, THANK YOU,
Kacey McNew
Dear Juti
Here is what I found on the RID website... regarding the EIPA Certification.
In regard to the EdK-12 as well as the following:
EIPA Interpreters Joining RID…
Interpreters who have passed the EIPA written test and scored at
least a 4.0 on the EIPA performance test may now join RID as certified
members and maintain certification through the RID Certification
Maintenance Program (CMP) and Ethical Practices System (EPS).
New and current members of RID who wish to do so must use the
Membership application or call the RID national office at 703-838-0030.
The EIPA written test is very different from the NIC
Generalist in that the entire test is taking the "general knowledge" from
the "classroom interpreting website" and applying it to scenarios, so the
entire test is "scenarios". "what would you do"...."what if" etc....
The EIPA written is only given at certain times during the year and I took mine
at LA Unified at the "spur of the moment. You have to check their website for
the next test dates.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
K.A.
Hi Juti Just wanted you to know that I took the EIPA performance exam on June 17th and passed!!! I only needed .1 to pass and I passed by .4 points more than my state requires. I followed your instructions and I definately put into practice much from what I learned from your training course. You gave me a different perspective on my interperting in regard to focusing on the intent, goal, concept, and the big picgture instead of racing through trying for every word.
Thanks so much and keep up the good work!
Juti,
I practiced, practiced, practiced your teachings and techniques and I finally passed the EIPA! I failed so many times, I was losing all hope of passing. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you and your training course.
